Veneers are an alternative to crowns & can mask stains, hide chips, correct misalignment & create uniformity. Veneers, which are made of thin, customized material designed to slide over the teeth, look natural, are long-lasting & are relatively easy to apply.
There are several types of crowns, including porcelain, ceramic, resin & metal alloys. The material used can be altered to match the color of your teeth. Our primary concern is your dental health, so ask Dr. Nesbitt which type is right for you!
Getting a crown takes two steps: First, we prepare the tooth by taking x-rays & pictures to check the surrounding bone & tissue & filing down the tooth to make room for the crown. Then the crown is made & cemented into place.
A crown acts the same way as a tooth, so after your crowns are placed, you should treat it the same way as well. Continue to brush & floss regularly & see your dentist for regular checkups!
