Dr. John Nesbitt has been a part of the Cranbrook community for over 40 years. He graduated with both a Bachelor of Science degree & a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Western University in London, Ontario. As an integral member of the local community, Dr. Nesbitt regularly participates in fundraising efforts for local charities. He helped raise money to fight childhood cancer & to help purchase an MRI machine for our local hospital, along with many other very worthy causes.

Michael was born and raised in Cranbrook, and being someone who loves the Kootenay’s, after graduating from Mount Baker High School, Michael stayed in the area to attend the College of the Rockies. After some time at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, Michael graduated from Cork University in Ireland - and his career in Dentistry began. A welcome addition to his father’s team, Michael not brings his professionalism, compassion, and skills to bear, he also brings an even stronger sense of family to the Peak Family Dental team who spends their days helping other families. Dr. Tom is very honoured to continue his dental journey at Peak Family Dental. Dr. Tom started dentistry at the University of Southern California before returning to his hometown of Penticton, BC. A second-generation dentist, he practiced with his father before continuing a long solo practice. Thomas has extensive knowledge in all dental aspects. He loves to work with the patient to create a personalised dental plan. A special area of interest for Dr. Tom Rahkola is orthodontics. He continues to be a study club participant with his mentor, Dr. Bernardo “Coco” Garcia, for over 25 years. In the words of Dr. Garcia, orthodontics is a specialty and should be treated as such. The orthodontic Study Club continues to evaluate new methods of orthodontics and provides what is best for each unique, new patient (or previous orthodontic patient).

Dr. Maziar Shahzad Dowlatshahi is a distinguished, internationally trained periodontist and implant surgeon, celebrated for his 30 years of extensive experience in the field of dentistry. His academic and professional journey is marked by significant achievements and international exposure, beginning with a Master’s degree in Periodontics from Iran, which laid the foundation of his illustrious career. Dr. Maziar’s approach to treatment is patient-first, emphasizing personalised care plans, clear communication, and the integration of advanced technologies to achieve optimal dental health outcomes. He is an advocate for continuous learning and professional development, actively participating in educational initiatives both as a student and an instructor, and staying abreast of the latest advancements through conferences and workshops. Currently serving patients across various dental offices in Canada, Dr. Dowlatshahi brings a wealth of knowledge, a global perspective, and a compassionate approach to his practice, striving to enhance oral health and transform lives, one smile at a time.

Dr. Akbar comes to our office each month from Vancouver BC, where he serves as a clinical Associate Professor at UBC instructing endodontics to Dental Students. This saves our Patients the inconvenience of traveling to get specialized root canal treatment.

Nicole works as a Dental Assistant as well as a receptionist. She grew up here in Cranbrook and graduated from the College of the Rockies Dental Assistant Program in 2008. Nicole has been working in BC ever since, including Fort St. John and Vancouver. After 10 years she has made her way back home to the Kootenays, where she joined the Peak Family Dental team. Nicole spends her free time with her family, who keep her very busy.

Debbie has worked for Dr. Nesbitt as a dental receptionist since 1994. She takes great pride in our practice, especially because it’s known for its friendliness & taking the time to know our patients. When not in the office, Debbie enjoys horseback riding, biking & hiking.

Becky completed the Certified Dental Assistant program at the College of the Rockies in 2010. She then worked at a large dental practice in Calgary for six years before returning to her hometown of Kimberley, BC. Becky has been with us at Peak Family Dental Centre for the last year. Becky is knowledgeable, caring, efficient, & absolutely indispensable!
