Crowns of All Types

Crowns cover & support a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth left. They can be used to attach a bridge, protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore one that’s already broken. A crown, also called a cap, is a way to cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped as well, or to cover a dental implant. A crown can make your tooth stronger & improve its appearance.

There are several types of crowns, including porcelain, ceramic, resin & metal alloys. The material used can be altered to match the color of your teeth. Our primary concern is your dental health, so ask Dr. Nesbitt which type is right for you!

Getting a crown takes two steps: First we prepare the tooth by filing down the tooth to make room for the crown and take an impression of the area. Then the crown is made at a laboratory & permanently cemented 2-3 weeks later.

The dental crowns act the same way as a tooth, so after your crowns on front teeth or any other teeth are placed, you should treat them the same way as well. Continue to brush & floss regularly & see your dentist for regular checkups
